Engineering position involved extensive training in reference and patent assistance. The UW Engineering Library is Washington State’s federal patent repository. Work with engineering and math students, faculty, and public patrons: to aid them in research and retrieval of information from databases such as Compendex, IEEE Explore, PTSO (U.S. Patent site).
Update Math Research Library New Journals section of website.
Provide circulation services: check-out, paging, shelving.
Updated standards database and filed new hard copies of ANSI and ASME standards.
Aided in collection development: created a spreadsheet reflecting research on reference section materials. As a result, new editions were purchased, older editions and less relevant material relocated to the stacks as part of a reorganization of the engineering library.
Gained invaluable experience working with complex databases (retrieving conference proceedings, technical reports, and standards), building subject guides, and teaching searching techniques.
